Big gas price drop

In our area it is still 3.49. It seems we are always higher than the surrounding states.

Welcome to my world. PA has the second highest gas tax in the nation. We were number 1 for a long time till CA took that title from us a little while back.

As of right now the going price for 87 regular is $3.69.

I've been through PA a number of times going down south and am always amazed at how expensive gas is there.

I fill up in Sturbridge, MA. It's right on the CT line and there are a lot of CT plates filling up there.

My next stop is on the NY, PA, NJ line off of I-84. I just have to remember that I'm not qualified to pump gas in NJ.

I then push as far south as I can in hopes of getting as far was WV on I-81 before the next gas stop.

CT is very expensive and NY is off the charts. NJ is not the bargain it used to be, but is still cheaper.

It's been all over the place here this week. The same station has gone from 2.99 to 3.04 to 3.15 to 3.29 and back to 3.04 in the last 6 days.

I notice diesel inching down recently...Currently here the lowest price I've seen is $3.49...Some offer a 10¢ discount for cash, but my CC pays 4% so until it gets under $2.50 a gallon I'll continue to charge it...My truck carries 100 gallons when full, so it's not like I have to have any this minute......Ben

$3.49 for diesel??? Boy, I envy that! Here in Central Florida diesel is still hovering around $4.25/gallon. That makes pulling the travel trailer an expensive proposition even for local trips.

I can't wait for this winter to be over so you Northerners can officially stop heating your houses and diesel prices can go down here a bit.

It has gone up here 30 cents to $2.99 this week. Funny how that works. I heard they were releasing more of our emergency stockpiles, maybe that's why it has gone down in many places.

It was 3.149 here today.

When I was a kid working in my dad's gas station, in the 1950's, it was $1.00 got you three gallons, $2.00 got you six gallons and $3.00 got you 9 gallons. The big spenders filled up. That was full service as well; check battery water, oil, radiator, tires and wash the windshields. Every now and then the gas wars would drive the price down to .17₵ a gallon.

I knew some guys once who had a rig...got cheap gas with it....2 10 foot hoses and an electric fuel pump with a switch. The funny thing is...the first time they used it....they emptied their own tank. Notice I didn't say they were all that smart. They showed me the contraption and one guy spilled the beans about emptying their own tank...don't know if they ever used it again....but the one guy said it worked....duh

$2.85 10 days ago at my local Piggly Wiggly Sunoco station. I filled up. Sam's was $0.10 more. Now Piggly is $3.19 and Sams is $3.09. It's juggling daily. Local Exxon and BP a block from my home are $3.29, were $3.39 a few days ago.

Regular unleaded went from $3.29 to $3.59 in the Chicago 'burbs last Monday. After checking to see if we got in another Middle East war over night I concluded that Springfield must have passed another tax increase in a midnight session.

Mrs. QD67 goes to the Middletown NY area on some weekends, and gas is cheaper there than the Scranton metro area.

Danbury CT is funny. Off Exit 2 of I-84 is a Mobil station that is stupid with the high prices.
Drive down Rt 6 past the Ethan Allen HQ and there are Shell and Gulf stations are 30 cents cheaper than the Mobil.

Going rate in my neck of Penn's Woods about 3.59/gal.
