I went to a swap meet yesterday. Got to talking to a guy and he asked me to look at some items. He called his wife and she brought them over. He wanted to know about this bayonet. I told him I had no clue but I'd give $10 for it. I went to a guys table and he had this little 32auto for sale. I ended up trading for the
Ortgies pistol and 35 rnds of ammo. I've never handled one of these before but it looks to be in pretty good shape.
HDHIC, I'll post a pic as a reply.

Thought it might be a Mauser bayonet at first, but I can't remember seeing one with a cross-guard like that. Definitely worth 10 bucks, though lol.

That bayonet sure is worth more than $10. Wish I could run across a deal like that. Seems most milsurp items have taken a jump in price lately.

Nice score on the Ortgies. Can't comment on the bayonet as they hold little interest for me.

Really like the Ortgies pistols; the unique design, fine early German engineering and quality machining, popular if short history. I'm looking to complete my tri-fecta with a .32 and .380 to match the condition of my ca. 1923 .25acp:)

The striker seems to be the problem with the Ortgies.
Dick

the bayonet looks to be for a model 17.
The Marine WO that I mentioned had the same problem with his, the leg on the striker broke. Had my Father-In-Law weld it and then I filed it down to fit.

That was my thoughts. Not Jap, but U.S. or Brit.

I found out it was a type30 bayonet. I checked it on a Japanese forum. I believe it was produced in China close to the end of the war. The hook was cut off square. Here is a pic of the arsenal mark. Thanks for the replies. HDHIC
