I don’t care for Bill O’reilly’s TV persona. But, I have read and enjoyed his “Killing” series of books. How many of you have read any of them, and what did you think of them?
For whatever it’s worth I’ve read and all of them.

I read the "Killing Jesus" book. The book purports to be a factual account, but there was no bibliography or sources given to back up the events as described other than a few footnotes. There are better books about Jesus's life with actual source material. "Zealot" by Reza Aslan was much better book.

None of them. My guess is the other guy does most of the writing but that is just a guess.

Yep. Martin Dugard has done all the research and documenting stuff for all the "Killing..." books. All O'Reilly does is transcribe it, maybe add some dialogue and often questionable suppositions. Then someone else will come along from the publisher and edit the manuscript, cleaning it up and correcting stuff. When the publisher okays it, it goes to print.

O'Reilly sits back and collects the money, maybe does a book tour or two, autographing books, for which he gets more money.

I've read one of the books, can't even remember which one now, it bored me so bad. I gave it away. Very seldom do that. It might've been Killing Kennedy...as if there was a need for another book on the Kennedy murder. Also read his The No Spin Zone book years ago. Bleh.

The man does not impress me, as an author and/or a commentator.

I haven't read any yet but want to. Rusty sent me one and ill be reading it soon as I finish with Death of the Leaping Horsemen, and The Devils General. Ive read from a couple when in WM, just to see what they are like-and seem pretty well done. I notice he has another called: Killing England--that is now in Bookstores.

Only have read one which was Killing the Rising Sun which really goes into detail about our actions in the Pacific theater. Being an old salt, (retired Senior Chief) I found it very interesting.

I listened to Lincoln and didn't really care for it. I found his voice grating and annoying with a tendency to get softer at the end of sentences almost to the point of not being understandable. He continually confused the words Calvary[where Jesus died] and Cavalry [horseback soldiers. I was OK with the distortion of facts as I knew them but did recognize multiple errors.

I've listened to several on audiobooks. I download them from my local library to my iPad, then Bluetooth them to my car audio system.

I really liked Killing Japan and Killing Reagan, and I've also listened to Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy, Killing Jesus, and Killing Patton.

I probably liked Killing Reagan the best. Lots of background information I found informative about the years after he left office that I was not aware of.

My wife bought me Patton at a garage sale, I couldn't put it down. Gave it to a buddy of mine, but haven't heard if he read it yet.

I really enjoyed "Killing Lincoln" wanted to jump into the book and stop it.
Could have done better with Patton, too bad.
The rest are all going to the used book store.

^^^^^Yer loss. You know, WHY is it that when someone asks for help on something, that someone else has to ruin a thread with ZERO ADDED VALUE?????^^^^^^ Fred asked for a bit of help eh??? Don't like Bill O-don't read him but don't ruin Fred's thread in the process. I APOLIGIZE to the Mods and rest of the membership at large....
