Any Simpson fans out there?

One of the cable channels recently ran all 552 Simpsons episodes. I haven't been a fan but recognize that a program that ran that long and had so many fans must be worth a look-see.

In the first episode I noticed one scene where one anonymous male had a large revolver sticking out from under his shirt. I loved that they would include that little detail in an episode that had nothing to do with guns.

Are there any recommended episodes? I filled my DVR with 164 episodes.

Here are a few images culled from Google images.

I like it. Pokes fun at a lot of social issues, and human behavior in general, without being too over the top for kids to watch. Who doesn't know at least one "Homer"?

Try the comedy cartoon "Archer" on FX. NOT for kids, and about as politically incorrect as can be - That's why I like it...:)

But The Simpsons is pretty good.

Not a big fan but consistently the best writing on TV to be around for 25 years. Wicked sharp commentary on current themes and a strong current of God and family values running throughout.

I haven't watched it regularly for a couple years. I gave up because football games consistently ran long and pre-emptied it. I have probably missed the last couple treehouse of horror specials too.

I have been watching it during the marathon, Some really good writing if you pay attention.

One thing I never noticed, Obviously the kids never get older, also obvious the adults can't get older either. Because of this when they flash back to when Homer met Marge there are different versions. In the early episodes they grew up in the 70's, in the later episodes they grew up in the 90's! So I am now older than Homer and Marge are! Really hard to believe it has been 25 years. Ed

Loved it, the only channel I get them syndicated on has been showing nothing but newer episodes last few years. I had truly forgotten how much smarter the early 90's episodes were! Groening, the creator has had little to nothing to do with the Simpsons series for several years and it shows.

I also enjoyed going through and deleting all the "Lisa" heavy episodes. Bart would so approve :)

I used to watch it religiously. Hellfish episode, whacking day episode, mindy simmons episode are a couple stand outs I remember.

While the Simpsons might be humorous I cannot stand nor watch a show that makes fun, in a mean way, of families.
I.E., the kids are smarter than the dad and the dad is an idiot.

Doesn't leave a lot to watch then, does it? It's the dumbing down of America from cartoons to Reality TV(?) to the nightly news.Pick your poison.:(

I've come to the realization some time ago that my life really isn't as bad as I once thought.
