Bipod or tactical bag rest

Hey guys for range time with a 15-22 what do U guys recommend.
Seems like the bag is a bit cheaper and easier to deal with.
Caldwell makes them specifically for ARs for $54. Item #934693
What do U guys use, if anything.

I use a bipod in the field when hunting and a benchrest front bag on the bench. Note that I'm talking about .223 AR's and bolt guns, not .22 LR's. I limit my shooting with .22LR's to 50 yards or less in the field and do quite well without a rest because I spent many years shooting competitively.

Some people have very good luck with bipods on the bench. My wife's one of them, but they just don't work well for me.

Personally i don't use either, i shoot offhand competitions so no need, when i do shoot off the bench, i just use rest the lowest part of my AFG on an upturned magazine, secure it pool cue style to stop it falling when i pull the trigger and i find it perfectly levels out with the targets at my range and shoots fine.

If i were to move into bench shooting on a regular basis i would probably choose a bipod, simply because its attached to the gun and less fiddling around than carrying a bag.

I shoot off hand but when I have to use a rest it's often just a bag.

A friend of mine took this

Welded a large flat base to the bottom of it and a small flat base to the top.

On the top base he put this

And made this (generic picture from Internet)

Now he can adjust to anyone's preference and the large base keeps it from tipping. He also drilled the base on all 4 corners and installed special screws (I'm sure they have an actual name aside from me calling then "screws"). And now if the bench table is uneven he can turn the screws to make it align with the table so that the rest doesn't wobble

Most all my shooting with the 15-22 is offhand. But when I want a rest for zeroing, a Midway range bag works well.

I mainly shoot offhand but do need a rest when sighting in an optic, as I often move my optics from gun to gun.

I find a feed sack works fine for me. Now don't go & tell these feed companies because soon as they hear about it, they will turn the sack solid black & add tactical to the name... plus raise the price 50%. I can see it now, Purina tactical sweet feed.
