Bipod?

What bipod & adapter mounts are you guys running?

I've got Harris on a AR-15 & a AR-10, but I almost fell like that would be overkill on my 15-22. Am I wrong?

Depends I guess. I wound up getting the Harris BRM-S/LT130 adapter combo from Larue on mine...

I used to run a Harris on my AR-15 and my 15-22, but that required swapping the MIL-STD-1913 sling adapter between them at the range, which was a pain. Also, I had to remove it whenever I wanted to shoot standing, kneeling, etc.
This proved a much simpler supported bench-shooting solution:

I got a Leapers / UTG bipod from Cheaper Than Dirt. It seems to work pretty well for the price. I might actually pick up a couple more for my other AR's

Maybe its just me but I seem to be more steady just holding the rifle at rest than using a bipod. I may be doing something wrong. I have the UTG with metal feet. Going to look into sand bags.

That is weird. With a zero'd scope w/ BDC reticle it almost feels too easy w/ the Harris bipod, just completely rock solid. The view out of my scope at anything over 4x when standing looks like I'm riding out a Noreaster on a fishing boat however.

I was having the same issue until one of my distance-shooting friends suggested I "load" my bi-pod (Grip-Pod) by pushing forward on it before trying to steady my aim. I guess this is a commonly known method you're supposed to do with bi-pods, I just happened not to know it lol.

Not necessary with real bipods. The grip-pod junk is another matter because they are not solid supports. If the thing moves when you apply pressure in any direction, it is not a solid support.

I use the same Harris on all my rifles. For the 15-22, I use a QD mount that clamps to the rail. It's as solid as when mounted on my other rifles.

A .22LR needs as solid a bipod as any other caliber. I use one with a QD rail mount on mine - when I use a bipod, which isn't all that often.

He must have the swivel mount, rather than the fixed. Yea, the swivel mounts do need to be handled differently. Never liked them for that reason.

My son's unit trashed theirs right off the bat.

Good is a subjective term. Mine is good because it works for everything I need it to and has held up with everything I've put it through. And as an added bonus for me, since the legs do move back and forth ever-so-slightly, I can use my slidefire while using the bipod legs and get 25 rounds in a very tight group.
