Picked up a used 66-2 and wanted to know if anyone could help me identify birth date. The serial number is 100KXXX. It has a pinned 4" barrel, but the cylinder is not recessed. The model number looks like the 2 in the 66-2 is stamped over a 1. How do I validate Grips are original? No box or papers.

Paid $500 - Reasonable? Attached are a couple of pics.

It's a 1981 shipped gun, and the right time frame for transitional features. The stocks are of the correct style for this time but there is no way to tell if they are original to the gun, as they are not numbered to the gun and easily changed. The price is in the average range. Hope this is helpful.

Had a chance to shoot her today. Nice shooter - certainly more of a kick as compared to my 27-2 with 8 3/8 barrel. Need to tone down the load down that I generally shoot out of the 27-2 before I hand this one over to the wife.
