I'm a retired LEO and work part time at a gun shop. Fella comes in with this handgun to sell and I told the owner of the shop I gots to have this!! It came with Hogue rubber grips, but they are too big for me so I replaced the grips and the recoil spring. I'm not sure this has been fired other than factory! I had the grips off and the frame was clean.

ACEd is saying:

Look at the end label on the box (if present). The Special Order code probably starts with a 9 (1999 production) and the other digits indicate the day of the year it was packed and ready to ship. 001 being January 1, and 365 December 31. You have to figure out the day if not one of those two. ;)

Enjoy!

Actually there is a 6 digit Product Number that will identify the configuration as built - Novak sights, Night sights, Adjustable sights, etc as well as potentially anything else unique (NYPD 5946 configuration for example).

The Spec Order code is the 4 digit code generally bottom middle on label that frequently decodes to last digit of year year plus day (001-365) but I have found conflicts in that code vs info from SW. Guessing its date pistol was boxed or label printed which may or may not match "manufacture date" - also there are Spec Order codes that have numeric day code in excess of 365 which generally indicate unique orders.
