I'll be hitting the "big" 6-0 in October and thought the best gift possible to myself would be a nice S&W from the same year. Ok so for a 1956 4" Combat Magnum that would be good to shoot as well as admire what should I expect to pay? I chose this over the "pre-27" in 3.5" as I'm guessing it'd be more affordable and I'd be equally happy with either one.
This is out of my realm so any help would be appreciated. I'd prefer to find one with a red ramp and w/o rear, tt and th not that important. I don't want a beater (hey I still look pretty good so the gun should too
), but it shouldn't be mint either as it will see range use and perhaps even get carried now and then.
I originally thought about a .44 but frankly I'm condensing my ammo and the price on .38s especially is much better as well as the fact I'm well stocked on both .38 and .357 (though I mostly shoot that in my 686 no dash-I'd rather have a lot of a few calibers rather than a few of a lot of calibers).
Thanks.
