Okay, I 've reluctantly resigned myself to the fact that it may be many many years before I find a Triple Lock ... and possibly decades before I can call a Registered Magnum my own.

But, dang it, a birth year gun? Shoot! I should be able to find one of those!

Well, I haven't. Not yet. Got within one year so far. That's not good enough. Doesn't count. Loser!

The ugly green mist of jealousy descends upon me whenever I read a post by some lucky so-and-so who just found his birth year gun. Heck, if he can do it, why can't I?? (Don't get me wrong ... I may be envious, but I am also sincerely happy for the fellow and revel in his acquisition.)

But after fretting and gritting my teeth for the past few years I suddenly realized, what the heck am I getting my Fruit-of-the-Looms in a knot for?? Why, birth year guns are as common as overweight people in tight stretchy pants at Walmart!

It has been right under my nose the whole time. I have a gun that is considerably more "rare". It is not a birth year gun ... it is not a birth month gun ... heck, it's not even a birth day gun ... no, it is much more special than that ... it is a birth place gun!

Yes, my friends, unless someone was born in Springfield or Hartford, how many can say that they have a gun that came into the world in the same town in which they did? (I am sure that there must be a few ... would be very interested in hearing about them.)

So behold, the mighty Charter Arms Undercover! (I know ... I know ... you're all jealous! :D)

Born (like me) in the once beautiful city of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

(And, like me, getting a little purple and spotty with age ...)

Nice little Charter Arms. If I needed a cheap snubby, Charter would be an option. The actions in them are similar to the Colt MKIII action design, which wasn't too bad.

I like the vintage Charter guns, and really like the purpling of your example. It's just neat to see what age can do to different bluing styles. Ruger has had this come up, and even Colt has had some purple parts come up. My '72 snub Python has a purplish cylinder latch and to a lesser extent the trigger too. It's all unique character to me.
