The other day a neighbor mentioned in the course of conversation that he had a Lightweight Commander made in the late 60's. I told him if he ever decided to sell it to give me a call. He said if it was a 9mm, he would never think of selling it (he really likes 9mm 1911s), but it's .45ACP and he was considering it. Today he called me and we worked out a deal... and it turned out to be made in 1967, a birth year gun for me.

It will go nicely with the 1967 Gov't 1911 I looked long and hard for...

It came to me with Pachmayr grips, so the smoothies are just placeholders until I can find something more appropriate... ;)

That's a beauty, congratulations! Although I have birth year (1954) S&Ws, I have only been able to get close with a Colt revolver. This is my Colt Detective Special (2nd Issue) from 1952...close but no cigar!
