Birthday surprise, Model 10 "10-7" unfired***Update closer look it’s been fired

My brother surprised me with a Model 10-7 for my birthday.
It's a pinned pencil barrel 3D578XX.
It looks new. As we were looking at it, I believe that joker is customer unfired. You can just barely pick out a slight ring on the front of the cylinder, every other cylinder if you hold it in the light right.
No wear, no scratches, nothing.

Here it is with my 1923 Model of 1905 4th change 32-20.

I prefer the feel of the grips of 1923 better than the 10-7 grips so I have set of Pre-War service stocks on the way. I did swap grips to see how the 10-7 would look and feel with pre-war grips.
Spectacular!
I'll post a photo when I replace the grips.
I am so blessed. I'm not fussing but in way I kind of wish that 10-7 was more of a beater. I just want to go and shoot the fire out of it. Shoot it, learn it, really use it like it was meant to be. But then again, it's nearly 50 years old and apparently has never been fired.
While I'm showing my Smiths, I might as well show all my double actions.

Now I love my Smiths but those "D" frame Colts, especially the 1923 PPS...just fit. They fit me better than, well anything. They feel better to me than a 1911, '51 Navy and Model P. There's just something about the size and feel of a D frame Colt that I like. They come in right between a J and K frame Smith. The little Colts have a natural feel whereas the Smiths seem more mechanical but not in a bad way.
Don't get me wrong my Smiths are special. The D frames are...well, closer to beaters.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at these. Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Sir I searched for ever looking for a model 40, everyone I found I was outbid on. Never saw one in a pawn shop or gun store. Couple weeks ago I bid on one on GB and damn if I didn't win it! When I go pick it up, me and the store owner agreed, never fired. I mean absolutely mint. I haven't fired it yet, but been carrying it around anyway. I can't not shoot it, I been looking for it for ever!

Update....
A closer examination of the bore reveals that it’s slightly fouled. Actually it needs cleaning. I know they test fire them at the factory but I’m pretty sure they clean them afterward.
Why it was shot with every other chamber...who knows?
Anyway I’m pretty confident the revolver has been customer fired.
There’s a big difference between unfired and like new.

You have a loving brother. That's a very good thing!

Bryan
Thanks Bryan.
Yessir
We’ve always been close our Daddy made sure of that.
We do things for each other. Old car stuff, gun stuff we go back and fourth.
This was my 50th.

I think I’d look for a well worn but tight twin to the M10 to shoot the heck out of.
I’m always on the lookout for good shooters. The thing is. There are none around here, or at least the places I look.
I believe my new Model 10 just fell out of the sky. My brother knew I was looking for one...he saw it and got it.
They don’t last long.
It seems they are either like new or fished out the river. Around here there seems to be no in between.

Congratulations on your revolver.
It was made to be used. Like I said in a previous posting, these tend to be found either like new or pitiful shape. Sometimes there’s no in between.
If you are going to carry one, I think you need to shoot it but that’s just me. I would enjoy it. So do whatever is good for you.

The evidence of firing on every other chamber strongly suggests factory testing, as you noted. And they did not clean them afterward. So either it has not been used since testing or a previous owner tried to conceal using it by skipping chambers.

If you are unsure about shooting it yourself, ask your brother for his opinion? Enjoy!

Very nice gift. Did you get the box and docs with it? If you did , I might just clean it and put it away, but if not shoot it and enjoy it!
