Bit of a quandry here

Well was enjoying a peaceful day reading through Knuhausen's S&W book. They list the model 14 as the K38 than on the next page they list the model 15 as a K38. Applying my meager knowledge of S&W's I figure the model 14 to be the K38 of revolver champs. What name does one call the model 15? Combat masterpiece??. Frank

Frank, they are both K38s. The pre-14 and 14 is called the K38 Masterpiece and the pre-15 and 15 is called the K38 Combat Masterpiece. The 15 is called Combat to distinguish it's 4" barrel length, that's all.

Just like the Model 17 and 18 are both K-22's. 17 is 6" and 8 3/8" barrels and the 18 is the 4".
