Today was a day in Colorado where the battle for freedom was lost. Blacker than the finish on my S&W revolver, the 2nd Amendment was basically tossed out of the state. In addition, both the House and Senate ignored every bit of testimony from those that did not support their agenda to rid the state of guns.

The Democrat Senate is following the Democrat House and the Democrat Governor is expected to sign all seven anti-gun bills. All the bills have been voted on party line votes. Since the Democrats control all three branches of Colorado government, there was no way these would not pass.

Here is an example of the mentality... HB1229, written and passed by Colorado's Democrat majority on a party line vote, makes it an illegal transfer to give your gun to a licensed gunsmith for repair. How many law-abiding citizens will be injured or killed by back-alley gunsmiths who botch an illegal repair?

A key element of this bill is that you may not loan your gun to anybody which includes sending it back for warranty repair. You may not loan it to your spouse. Nobody. And, when you die, the gun may not be passed on to your heirs.

The limit on 10 rounds in magazines also passed the Senate vote on party lines.

The liability bill would hold both sellers and manufacturers liable for any wrongful use of a gun. The government believes they can get around the Federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act of 2005 that prevents manufactures and dealers from being held liable for crimes committed with their weapons. Passed on party line vote.

Full universal background checks also passed along a party line vote making even private sales or transfers requiring background checks -- even if you're selling/transferring to immediate family members. There is a 72 hour window for family member transfers.

The Concealed Carry restriction on College Campuses also passed on party line vote. Even though the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that colleges must allow concealed carry just a few months ago, the new legislation will nullify that ruling.

In another piece of legislation, Colorado citizens will now have to pay for their manditory background checks. Again, passed on party line vote.

The domestic violence bill that prevents anyone who is convicted of domestic violence or is the subject of a restraining order from possessing a firearm also passed on party line vote.

7 of 7 passed. The Senate changed the calendar and rules several times today to insure passage of the bills.

It looks like me and my company will join Magpul and relocate to another state that still supports the United States Constitution's 2nd Amendment.

I have been searching online news sites for info on the legislation but haven't found anything yet..if as you posted I won't set foot or tire in that state again.

A lot of my Mountain Bike racing involves Colorado...

I will not pass this along to others...

Colorado does not need a penny of our business.

What happened to this state?! California migrants?

Colorado has been going downhill for many years. It was on the decline when I lived there during the mid 80s. Its a beautiful state that is, unfortunately, over run with leftists. Screw em.

Colorado

Went to a gun show in Colorado last fall, big sign on the door NO PARKING LOT SALES ALL SALES MUST GO TO FFL...it was not much of a show. will not be going back to Colorado...

The gunshow rules were a direct result of Columbine. The government is trying very hard to control private sales. The problem we are having here is we did a great job attracting people fleeing overcrowding on the coasts as we had a lame economy and they had money. Now we have the same problems as everyone else. The good news is the taxpayers own 2/3 of the mountains so they can't fence us out yet, though the hard core greenies are trying to.

Colorado's new gun laws

I live in Colorado an my response to our dumb *** government is simple: if you insist on making legitimate law-abiding gun owners outlaws, then an outlaw I will be. I Will Not Comply With Your Illegal Laws.

"It’s after 11 p.m. and I’ve finally gotten back home. Let me share some reflections from the marathon session at the state capital today.

First, I have to say how proud I am of all the citizens, many from my county, who showed up to be heard today. If you weren’t there, but read the news accounts, you were a victim of unbelievable deception. The media accounts paint a picture of essentially equal numbers of supporters for both sides. I was there- that was not the case. I’d estimate the opponents to be at least 6-8 times the number of supporters. Don’t be fooled!

I have never been more proud to be a Colorado Sheriff than I was today. Despite tremendous geographic and budgetary challenges, we had 25-30 Sheriffs or their representatives at the capital today. We were given very few opportunities to testify, but every time we did, 20-25 Sheriffs stood together in support. To the irritation of bill sponsors and the majority party, we received several rounds of applause throughout the day. We were truly honored to represent the constituents of our counties. Only one newscast mentioned our presence today, but then they quickly “balanced” it with a mention that the police chiefs supported the bills. (I counted 1 appointed police chief and the appointed director of CBI at the capital throughout the whole day).

In the end, the majority party chose time and time again to ignore our advice and input, just as they did everyone who spoke in opposition to these bad and dangerous bills.

Rest assured, your County Sheriffs are NOT giving up the fight to protect their citizens and the rights of those citizens. We understand our duty and we take our oaths seriously!"

Good night
Sheriff Smith, Larimer County, Colorado.

I think all those hog hunters down south should take up hog penning. I'm in no way advocating such actions as to let them loose up north and boycotting hunting such creatures but southern boys should share their problems with their northern neighbors. Nor am I advocating boycotting all bear and wolves tags in Colorado as that would create a population explosion of such critters making a stroll in the wilderness a bit more challenging to those without a gun.

Gun owners should have a psychological battle with the anti-gun control crowd. Have a hemp festival sponsored by the NRA. Free hemp samples provided by the National Rifle Association.

Man o Man....

If'n Colorado and New York was a cuttin the those free phone minutes back or

Reducing free hand-outs, food stamps and other social benifits....

Why there would be rioting in the street....

Demanding their rights....to free stuff.

It'd be worse that the '60s.

.

So Goes The Masses....

Sorry for you Colorado people...i never thought it was a Dem. state.
Hope your neighbor ( NM, Utah...) will not follow you.
Bad days for "GUNSMOKE GUNS" too.....maybe they will relocate them...
Cheers.

I have no doubt this will be challenged in court as soon as it is signed. Even new York is likely to be overturned as of now. So will Colorado.

Guess this is as good a place as any to make my first post.

We are fighting a losing battle. There may be a silver lining though, we can vote these career politicians with the anti-2A agendas out of office. Hickenlooper said that he doesn't believe that signing these bills into law will cost him the next election. Let's prove him wrong.

Bobc357, thank you for standing for my rights!

I doubt seriously that those will stand up to a legal challenge seems more for show
