A local gun shop near me (Town Gun Shop, Collinsville, VA.) has Anderson AR-15 stripped lowers for $39.99 for Black Friday. I think I might get one and salt it back, pick up all the other bits later....

Palmetto State Armory has a kit with every thing else you would need except a magazine for $299, so you could concievably build a 16" carbine for $339. They also have stripped lowers for $39.99....

The same shop near me has complete rifles on sale for Black Friday as well, Smith & Wesson M&P Sport for $459, another flat top rifle $399.

How much lower can AR-15 prices go? .223 ammo is also a deal, just about anywhere for .30 a round if bought in bulk.

I just built my first AR, had never even touched one before.

I got three stripped Anderson lowers for $115 From Brownells about 10 days ago.
Then bought a nice upper and lower build kit from PSA for $370, Came with a nice upgraded trigger and BCG, MLok rail, and Magpul sights, seemed to be a good value. My Nephew is into AR's and help me pick out the parts,

I had a blast putting the lower together and dropping the upper on. Had as much fun shooting it also/

I recently used and Anderson Manufacturing lower for a build. Used a PSA upper for the same rifle.

Anderson makes a decent lower for the price. I found the quality of their collapsible stock to be questionable, but the rest of the lower receiver parts kit was of decent quality.

So many AR options out there today that are really inexpensive a person could end up with a safe full. I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t have at least one or two including some people who are definitely anti-gun. The political climate the last few years contributed to a major over production of complete rifles and parts driving prices down to near cost . May be the most owned rifle ever.

Ar’s

I agree with vonn. We are IMO in the “golden age” of the AR system. I have Ar’s in 8 different calibers spanning from the 22rf to the 50 Beowulf. You can “dress them up” for whatever application you want. We are in a buyer’s market pressently with a glut of products and declining demand.
I know people who I would never have expected to own AR’s who have run out and bought them. I know a couple of retired school teachers who have “preached “ to me in years past about the evils of guns, who now have two NIB Colt Ar’s under their bed.

I built this one to "salt away" before the 2016 election. Total cost $443 with Anderson lower. $100 More for Spikes etc. Nothing wrong with Anderson "no frills" option. Joe

Another PSA complete lower on it’s way to my FFL. Magpul CTR stock equipped for $139 shipped.
Don’t know what I’m going to do with it yet, but the price was right. :)

I've never had any particular fondness for the AR platform, and have never owned one (I have fired hundreds of M16A2s and M4s). But now I am seriously thinking about buying the components to make one up as the prices are finally getting realistic.
