Hey all new to the forum but not new to smith & wesson, always thankful for these forums

I just purchased an M&P 2.0 compact 4” in 9mm, no thumb safety model, I ordered it online and should be able to pick it up next Thursday as my FFL went out of town after receiving and I couldn’t meet before he left

Anyways I’m looking for the Blackhawk Serpa CQC paddle holster for one of these, not sure if they make one, I emailed Blackhawk but got no reply from them. If they don’t make one can anyone recommend something similar?

I currently been carrying a Glock 23 with one for years and been very happy with it for my needs.

I came across this but I am very skeptical with some reviews mentioning the screws falling out

[ame="https://www.amazon.com/Holster-Outside-Waistband-Compact-Right-Handed/dp/B08XQHQZX7"]Amazon.com: OWB Holster for S&W M&P 9MM Full Size, Tactical Belt Holster for Smith & Wesson MP 9MM/40S&W M&P 2.0(No Shield), Polymer Outside The Waistband Open Carry 60° Adjustable Holster with Fast Release, RH: Sports & Outdoors[/ame]

Can anyone confirm which other model gun holsters will work with the 2.0 compact 4”? Thanks in advance

Actually you should be sceptical with the idea of Serpa holster.
If you need extra security level I'd suggest something with thumb, not index button.
It may also happen, that you may be rejected as a firearm class attendee wearing Serpa holster.

Agreed. OP, check out the Safariland offerings before committing to the Blackhawk.

Midway has a holster finder on their web site. Just enter the required info and everything they sell that fits your gun will populate.

I have seen Alien Gear advertising their new retention holster, that may be an option for the OP.

This is accurate for two primary reasons:

1. Since the trigger finger is active in defeating the retention, it is close to activating the trigger on the draw. There have been many ND’s with this setup.

2. A very small bit of interference under the release button will lock the gun into the holster, rendering it useless.

Many ranges/shooting schools will not allow Serpa holsters. There are so many other good options it is not worth it to try to track this down.

Check out the thumb drive holsters from Orpaz Defense. They make great stuff. I have the older style model for my M&P 2.0 9mm and love it. I can run it on a tactical thigh adaptor, or EDC on my belt with a paddle or belt loop attachment.

Just a moment...

I have several Serpa CQC holsters. If it is such a bad design, why have so many other holster companies copied it? Just because a few idiots have had ND/shot themselves does not make it a bad holster. Just my 2 cents...

Nobody said that Serpa had "bad design".
But yes.. few idiots had ND because of that design, so why not to try avoid it, using different options?

When schools and trainers ban the Serra’s from their classes, rest assured it’s one of the more unsafe designs.

Blackhawk has done a great job of marketing/advertising and flooded retail channels with an affordable holster. That doesn’t mean they are the best or safest.

This from a guy who carries a striker fired pistol AIWB and pretty constantly advocates for it. Some carry methods and holsters may be for more advanced shooters? I hope I’m not a hypocrite. 😌

I’ve put my 9c in my full size M&P Safariland ALS holster and it works just fine.
I have a Serpa for my old Glock duty gun and replaced it with an ALS. Not much more money and much better.

I've used Serpa holsters for years with no issues what so ever! Our local law inforcement also uses them! When drawing my pistol from a serpa, my trigger finger is not going to engage the trigger, period! Striker fire pistols with no manual safety are dangerous!

OK, I'll say it, the Blackhawk Serpa design is terrible. I can't believe they still produce this terrible design.

The problem is that it can. The action of releasing the gun puts the shooter in a position to hit the trigger. Just because you haven't done it yet doesn't mean you won't do it on the next draw. Conversely, a holster that doesn't require the trigger finger to press toward the trigger won't put the shooter in a compromising position.

Striker fire pistols with no manual safety are dangerous!
This speaks volumes.

You would be happy with the Tege - I use one. Will not bind like the Blackhawk. Use some LocTite Blue on the screws.

Just a better mousetrap.

I won't get into the argument over whether the Serpa is unsafe. I own one for the full size M&P. My 2.0 compact fits in it just fine. The muzzle just doesn't stick out the bottom like the full size does. It clicks in securely and releases exactly the same way the full size does in the same holster.

Thanks for all the replies and recommendations

I think I’m leaning towards the Safariland 7378 7TS ALS Concealment Holster with your guys’s recommendations. I still have a few days to decide for sure.

I was also looking at the alien gear paddle holster and the Comp-Tac Paddle Holster Straight Drop

I have a couple serpas and no issues, ever. Still use them
not the worst holsters ever as someone said. I would rate the crappy nylon holsters with zero retenttion as the worst.
