Speaking of black powder guns: Can they be shipped private individual to private individual without being a FFL ?

Federal law sez "Yes", as they are not considered firearms. You can even use the USPS, handguns included. Local laws may vary.

There are some state restrictions (the usual suspects). There is no federal restriction on shipping/selling guns made before 1898. I have a SAA Colt 44-40 that I can legally ship interstate. I have a H&A Blue Jacket pistol in .22 short that is also exempt.
 
Yep, should be good to go. My wife bought me a Uberti 1858 Remington a couple of years ago for my birthday. Cabelas shipped direct with no hoopla.
