I'm thinking of getting a few Kydex holsters for range/field use. I'm looking for fairly simple holsters with passive retention only, no thumbreak, for J, K, L and N revolvers, in Kydex. (I have leather holsters as well, and I'm considering ordering some of the Simply Rugged ones that a lot of folks seem to like here in addition. )

Blade-Tech is one that's been recommended to me. I was looking for advice on them, places to get them, (besides Blade-Tech's somewhat confusing site), as well as if there's anything similar to consider.

Thanks!

I just got one of these Thursday for my N frame Smith
Outside Waistband Holsters - products new home - Locking Paddle
and wore it all day Friday....so, I have one day with it. I carried my 22-4 in it, and I REALLY like it.
Tension is adjustable, it is fast, one hand holstering is easy. I have many Comp Tac holsters for my Glocks, and I like them as well.
I was going to carry my N frame for a week or so, and then write a review and post pics...but after one day, I would certainly give it two thumbs up.
Now, it has no soul....no kydex does. I will get good leather rigs for all my N frames for "formal" occasions, but for duty, or rough country carry, or exposure to the elements, the Comp Tac seems to be an excellent rig

What I do to KYDEX holsters

I keep a coating of WD-40 or other Silicone on the inside of the holster to help protect the finish.

Blade Tech holsters

Check out Brownells they sell some or will order what you want.

BT I use for matches. BlkHawk Serpa for training with the PD's.

Or non-Serpa for range also.

Good luck

BladeTech makes a good holster. However, I quite using kydex holsters because they are hard on a guns finish. At least that is my experience with them.

I'll second this. I have a Blade-Tech OWB paddle and an IWB (Summer Special type), both in Kydex for my Kimber Compact CDP 1911. Both are excellent holsters, BUT I now have finish completely worn off the front sides of the trigger guard where it "snaps" into place in the holsters. If finish wear doesn't bother you, then buy a Blade-Tech with confidence. They've been around for a long-time in the Kydex world and their stuff is top-rate.

I've used a Blade Tech IWB holster for several years. It is well made and has stood up to quite a bit of carry and training.
