It seems that most of the exictement lately regarding S&W long arms is rimfire based.

Thirty years ago the talk was about the Model 1500. This was S&W's answer to the Remington Model 700.

I remember considering this rifle as my first centerfire rifle but, went with the 700.

Good shooting, good looking, reasonably priced rifles.

My first one was a 1700LS in .30-06
then a 1500 Deluxe in .222, Deluxe Magnum in 7mm, Deluxe Varmint
in .223, Standard in .223, Mountaineer in .223 and another Mountaineer in .30-06.

My uncle had a 1500 exactly like the one in the article but unfortunately some SOB stole it. The long guns section has become rimfire section (I'm guilty too) it's just a cool product that's cheap to shoot.
