Went to a LGS today and found a consigned 686-3, 2.5 inch. It was filthy, but overall looked good. It came with finger groove Pachmyr grips (which I don't like). I put the K/L round butt targets that I had laying around on it. It has a few small spots on the cylinder, but they cannot be felt by touch or with a fingernail.

They had $799 on and I offered $700 and they took it. $750 OTD. Don't think I did bad on it.

Apologize in advance for the poor Iphone photos. Will do better later.

You did very well at that price. Looks to be in great shape to me. I see nothing wrong with the photos. Those short barreled pre lock 686's are getting harder to find at anything close to a reasonable price. Thanks for showing.

$750 for a pre-lock 686 snubbie is a steal! Great buy.

Here's the -1 I recently picked up. Came with the smooth targets, which I thought were going to be repros. I was pleasantly surprised to discover they were genuine S&W.

Nice set up!
I have those same grips on one of my 696 ND. I see fewer smooth bananas than combats in the wild and they are now bringing similar prices. The Thai maker Vitoonmakers makes a nice clone as well as Ahrends.

Thanks!

I've honestly never been a big fan of the RB Combats. They look nice, but there are many other grips I prefer for actual shooting. This is my first set of smooth Bananas, and I like them a lot. They'd be perfect if they were ~3/8" shorter on the bottom. I have not shot them yet, however.
