I like it, especially Second Season. Found on Amazon under the Brit Box section which I subscribe to.

It's about police in Belfast facing drug pushing gangsters among loyalist factions.

Love one scene where a young constable at a diner asks the waitress about getting guacamole on toast. She replies, "How about smashed peas on toast."

The beat constables refer to the review officers as "the hindsight police."

Lot of Glock 17s which the Belfast police carry besides shotguns.

The constables have to go from and to their homes in civvies so their neighbors don't know they are police.

Police Service Of Northern Ireland, formerly known as The Royal Ulster Constabulary, was used by UK to keep the Sinn Fein under control when it was the IRA. There were many assassinations attempts on members of this police force prior to the Good Friday Agreement and there is a religious aspect to their policing. I don't know if this show portrays any religious bias or not.

Tripledipper, don't know for sure about bias but the first question the cops seem to wonder, "Loyalists?" Also regarding drugs the gangsters make reference to a Dublin connection..

The makeup of the station seems to be a mix of English imports and Irish.

I've seen some British police shows and most have left me scratching my head. WAY different from American police shows.

One I remember was an old BBC show called Dixon of Dock Green...about a London Metro Bobby on the beat. I thought our shows of that time were idealistic...but he had them beat. I guess in a way he was the "Joe Friday" of British police shows...and like Jack Webb, the actor who played him was sent out on his last journey with full police honors. I did like the way he intercated with the denizens of his beat, though...they knew him and he they. Closest I saw to this was Lloyd Bridges' "Joe Forrester" back in the 70's.

One episode on You Tube was called "Firearms were issued". In this case, old break open Enfields in what we call .38 S&W with 200 gr slugs. I had to watch it twice to figure out what the heck the cops who used deadly force had done wrong and the hoops they jumped through just to be ISSUED revolvers for the assignment in the first place.

Yeah, I know...different culture and different time...but still......?????????

Just finished the second season of Blue Lights this past week.

The first season had me wondering why anyone would sign up for that duty.

The second season was a different focus altogether.

The character development went exactly where you would think it would, no surprises there.
