Hi guys. As some of you know I collect 2nd and 3rd generation S&W 45's. I ran across an ad for what appears to be a blued 645. It is for sale in Tennessee. Was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this as I cannot find any information in my book about a blued 645. I was under the impression they were all stainless. I just don't want to buy a hack job or a poorly done gun for my collection. I have to say it intrigued me though. Any input is as always appreciated. :)

I've never heard of one... M645 were ss construction. Does not mean S&W might not have applied a finish for a contract or an aftermarket finish been applied. The only way to know, I suspect would be to letter it.
Still have mine, last service pistol, after all these years.

Never say never with S&W. But unless it had an AIP or PCZ serial prefix, I would doubt it is a factory blue or black finish.

Never the less, if it was nicely done I'd buy it. A black 645 appeals to me! Regards 18DAI

S&W made a small run of all blued carbon steel 45's in the early 1990's. I can't recall what the model number was right now (might have been 4505), but I do know that it was all carbon steel with a fixed Novak rear sight. I had purchased one new from my dealer when they came out and later foolishly sold it.
