Bluing change?

I'm new accumulator seeking info on when S&W changed from the dull blue finish to the high polish, lustrous deep blue finish.

I have a K22 Combat Masterpiece with the dull blue finish that the Standard Catalog of S&W says was produced in 1953. I also have a K22 Masterpiece with the high luster deep blue finish made in 1955. So I assume the change occurred sometime between the two. Can anyone narrow it down for me?

Sorry. This should have been in the 1896 to 1961 forum. I'm new and not sure how to move it other than delete and start over.
