the side plate of my 27-2 bluing is somewhat cloudy in apprearance, not bright like the rest of the gun. is there a fix for this? can it be polished with anything that won't damage the bluing?

no sir, once the finish of that 'part' is frosted, it must be blended in ( polished) with the entire gun to actually match...yes, we;ve seen guys try over the years to just polish the side plate alone, but it will NOT match, may come close, but there is NO guarantee it will match the rest if the receiver....sorry

yes, to some , even a 'mismatched' color of the side plate is "better" than frosted ,or rusted or damaged, whatever...so that plate couldbe 'reblued" by itself....just do not expect it to happen......if it was a matted finsih, ala the model 28 , we've seen and done, some of those that did "come close" but NEVER quite "matched"...........
