From a popular site:

Gent in Florida goes into a BMW dealership and tries to buy a new BMW on a food stamp credit card. The dealership is not keen on this and declines the sale. The gent, his sense of entitlement enraged and suffering from income inequality syndrome, comes back later and steals the car.

Fact or Fiction? It makes a good story but is it true? Substantiation?

About the time ya think you've seen it all, something like this happens.:confused::confused:

It's not a "Food Stamp" card it is a EBT card, it is a "debit" card and can only be used for eligible food items at authorized locations. Electronic "welfare" "check" money can be on it also But a single male is not eligible for cash assistance, if he had children, perhaps, but again it is a debit, not credit and the balance would be maybe enough for a tank of gas or two.

Just more media BS, the guy is clearly not all there.

Besides it is not Food Stamps anymore, in the Govt acronyms it is SNAP:rolleyes:

It may be that the attempted purchase of the car was a ruse to get into the dealership so he could get a look at the security setup, location of the keys, etc. Obviously, planning ahead is not his forte.

Deputies say they later found Jackson with the car and the keys after he ran out of gas because he didn't have money to fill the tank.

The man is just a little ahead of his time. If he had waited another few years, till say 2020 I am sure the entitlements will be sufficient to buy the BMW for him. After all if those working stiffs can get one so should he. Right?

Authorities in Florida have arrested a man they say stole a BMW after trying to buy it with a food stamp debit card.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office tells news outlets in a statement that 36-year-old Nicholas Jackson was arrested Friday and charged with grand theft auto.

Deputies say Jackson was turned away at the Pompano Beach auto dealership after trying to buy the $60,000 car using his EBT card and a credit card.

However, deputies say the suspect returned the next night and stole the car along with keys from 60 other vehicles.

Deputies say they later found Jackson with the car and the keys after he ran out of gas because he didn't have money to fill the tank.

It isn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
