I stumbled over this book from Mr. David R. Chicoine.

It'll cost me ca. US$ 100.-- shipped to Switzerland. Is it worth or do i got most of the informations in my Roy G. Jinks book and the Standard-Catalogue #3 from Supica/Nahas?

Thanks for answering my question.

Happy Easter-days!

Rick how you doin??!! It's great to "hear" from you!

I've been just back from a buddy which got some problems with his new bought and diassembled 2.5 inch model 19-4. He gave me
a bottle of wine for the help and I tasted it right now. I wasn't sure about the quality, but after four glass of it, I can say that it's a great and tasty Shiraz from South Africa

Thanks for the reviews. I guess I'll buy the book.

Swissman. Hate to interrupt your post, but If I remember correctly you were buying a Single shot, 3rd model. Would it be too terribly great an imposition to ask you to remove and measure the length of the Strain Screw? I am trying to refurbish one that someone put together from parts (I think). and have been getting light hits and think the screw has been filed down or is an incorrect length.

Thank you for consideration.

H.Richard,

Sorry, but I did just ask how much is the price for such a gun. Someone offered me a piece, but I don't made any decissions.

But if I remember right, they made the gun with .32 HE parts. So why should they change the strain screw length to another
dimension??

Helloooo!!

Any readers out there???

Please tell me your opinon about the book. I'd like to read first-person-critics about the book.

Thanks

Swissman,

I have not obtained that book simply because I don't own any S&W's of the vintage that the book covers.

However, most of us know that the author is one of the best "old west" gunsmiths and does impeccable work on priceless antique firearms.

I would suggest posting this in the "antique" section of the forum, you may get more response.

Swissman - You realize this admission could lead us to have doubts about your ability to discern the quality...

Can't help you with the book. As the poster said, Mr. Chicoine is well respected in his field.

Here is Dave Chicoine's website: http://www.oldwestgunsmith.com/ He and his son, Dave jr, do excellent restoration work. I have good experience with them.

He's a nice guy. How about call him up and ask him your questions about his book, Swissman? I bet he would be happy to talk with you.

Chicoine's book is exceptional, and a favorite of mine. If you have any interest in the Model 3 you NEED this book.

If you have a general interest in S&W's or the Old West, you will enjoy this book.

I helped Dave a very small bit on this, and it goes far beyond SCSW.
