Boot grips with no finger grooves?

The best grip I have yet found for my K/L frames is the service grips with a T/BK Grip. With that setup, I can get my pinky on the gun but the handle is still as short and concealable as it gets.

I'd like to have the option of just buying a set of grips when I get a new pistol instead of having to get grips and a grip extender.

I know boot grips are supposed to mimic my preferred setup, but all the boot grips I have found have very pronounced finger grooves which make it a awkward to get my pinky on the gun.

Does anyone make a grip that fills in the gap behind the trigger guard, but doesn't add any depth or length to the grip and doesn't have finger grooves?

Check out PGS Hideout grips. You can get them at Brownells. I believe they're around $20. They're cut to the length of the grip frame, don't cover the backstrap, and fill in behind the trigger guard. They have finger groove and non-groove options, as well as textured and non-textured. My preference is for the non-groove, non-textured versions (the textured version feels like relatively coarse sandpaper). The non-textured version is relatively smooth, but not slippery. Unlike their J-frame version, the K-frame version works with speedloaders without modification. Being made from a hard synthetic material, they won't win any beauty contests, but they're actually my favorite K-frame grips. I liked them better than the Ahrends boot grips I've used.

Speaking of Ahrends, I don't know if they still offer them but I've used their non-finger groove boot grips, cut to the length of the frame and with an exposed backstrap, with good results. They are a little thicker than the PGS grips, which is why I preferred the PGS grips, they fit my small-medium hands better.

Hope that helps.

These are the sawed off cokes I found then had recheckered and refinished. They feel fantastic and i think Eagle makes, or made, grips shaped just like them. Maybe smooth, though. Those are cut down chipped up K frames laying there that I got with the other ones.

PGS grips have been around for a long time..... they work but aren't very pretty........ Factory round butt target grips; I cut down a few pair in the 80s before discovering Spegel Boot grips. Rubber old Pachmyer Compact and Professional are GTG.

In the late 80s and 90s S&W factory grips were available in most LGS for $5-15 a set....... making it cheap to experiment/winter projects.

I've done a few Target grips similar to Mr Burp's above but I leave about 1/8" below the frame..........for some 4" 19/66s......you lose a lot of bulk and the proportions; guns to grip, is more appealing IMHO.

Ahrends makes some combats without finger grooves.

Yes, he does and I really like them. I'm using Ahrends Retro Banana Grips on my 2 inch Md. 64 and love them. Looking at them you wouldn't think they would fill that gap between the guard and the grip but they do. One caveat might be their length, but it isn't an issue for me. I also prefer wood and Ahrends grips are nice looking too.

Very nice! I actually have the equipment and most of the skills to build a set myself, but lately I don't have time for projects.

I appreciate all the suggestions very much. I'll dig in and see if any appeal to me.

Thanks!
