Can I use a 45 caliber bore brush to clean a 44 Magnum Revolver barrel?? I am new at shooting, so cut me some slack.:o

Welcome from Wisconsin!

Brushes aren't expensive so one that's dedicated to the caliber you want to use it in is always best & probably more efficient, too

Howdy from South Carolina, and welcome to the forum.

A quick search over at Hoppe's web site at their bore brushes shows the .44 and .45 to be the same brush, part number 1308P for pistols and 1315P for rifles.

I'm not that new to shooting, but I don't shoot those calibers, and didn't know the answer. Now I do, thanks to you and this forum. No need for slack, keep the questions coming, how else can we become know-it-all's. ;) :)

Welcome from Texas EJN. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

The brush is OK, but now only for the 44.

Welcome aboard from New Iberia La. Save the old brushes and when they get too dirty get a cheap can of break cleaner and spray them till clean. If too worn for lets say 44 cal, then clean and use for 40 cal. I save my old 30 cal brushes when they get dirty and worn then clean them and use them for 7mm mauser and 6.5Swede. Saves you money.
