There should be an S in front of that serial number, though it may be separated from the numbers by several spaces. That gun is the Model of 1950 frame, and it very likely shipped in 1952.

That's not an Austin Police Department gun, is it? If so, you have a special item and I am officially envious.

Dave is correct in the ship date but it would not be an APD gun unless it has been refinished in that they were nickel finished guns.
