Gentlemen:

That sublime L.A. police procedural, Bosch, returns today on Amazon for a long awaited fifth season. I'm kinda surprised that no one else here has mentioned it yet.

Some fans of the show love it because they have read Michael Connelly's best-selling novels about Detective Harry Bosch. Others, me included, have not read the books but love it anyway because of the crackling action, the no-nonsense approach of Bosch (played by Titus Welliver), and the show's underlying take on the nature of truth and justice.

I'm gonna have a tough time not bingeing on Bosch.....It's that good.

Recommended.

Watched three today. Didn't his stilt house get damaged and buldozed in one episode? Now he has stilt house with old case files in the below floor storage. I know--its just tv.

Is he at least not carrying his magazines backwards in season 5?

I do like the show, but that detail bothers me...

The wife and I finished the binge yesterday. I am now almost through the second watching. I think this may be the best of the five seasons and we know some story lines for season six.

Not a fan of flash backs and the fact it took five episodes to get us back to where the season started but the show is so good I forgave them.

Big fan of Mimi Rogers and was okay with how they wove her into the story but it would have been great if they could have enticed Matthew McConaughey to reprise his role.

About half way thru season 5.

I know I am way behind TV times but I caught up
first time this winter with:
Bosch
Deadwood
Saprano's
Justified

Regarding Bosch's house google map:
7203 Woodrow Wilson Dr.
L.A. Califorina

Best season ending ever: Bosch gets a dog. Looks like an Australian cattle dog. If they said so, I missed it.

Plenty of plot threads for a sixth season, if they want it. I just might have to pick up the books as well.

Here is a handy guide. Will keep you busy tor a while ;)

I have yet to read one that was disappointing. And since they cut-and-paste plot elements for the show from different books, it doesn’t matter much if you recognize things between books and TV. Always different enough.

I started reading after the first season aired. I am about halfway through the Bosch novels and have also read the novels from the other series as they appeared chronologically. That makes sense because Connelly often has his main protagonists appear as supporting cast in the other series.

I just finished the last episode of the latest season. As anticipated, it was excellent.

I noticed one thing I really liked. In Episode 10 (no spoiler alert needed here) Bosch opens up his Winchester brand gun safe to get out a pump shotgun, probably a Model 870. In doing so he reveals that inside the safe is also found a S&W Model 76 submachine gun. One sees it for only a moment, but its folding stock and perforated barrel shroud give it away. It could be debated whether the unfolding scene might have been even more interesting if he had unlimbered the M76 instead of the pump, but I'll leave that to the critics. I do like Bosch's taste in SMGs.

Before the Covid stay at home, I hardly watched TV. Since I’ve been at home so much, I bought a new TV and started streaming stuff I had never heard of. Last week I discovered Bosch, and have been binging on it. I’m currently watching the last show of Season 1. Great stuff. I didn’t read the above posts as I still have a bunch of seasons and episodes to catch up with you guys!!

Love it!!

Best Regards, Les

For those of you that like podcast, Michael Connelley had a podcast last year about a murder case that took decades to go to trial. All true with interviews from the victims mother to associates. About 13 one hour episodes and available on my I phone. I think it was called "Murder Book".

The IMFDB refers to the shotgun as a Mossberg 500. The 76 is also mentioned.
