So I was in a small gun shop today I like to frequent. They keep a small inventory but it moves quick because the prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly and never pushy.
I thought I spied a 2" model 10 in the case which made me happy. I had been looking for one of those awhile.
Turns out it was a 12-2! Price was $425.00 OTD. Considering the revolver was in pretty good shape and this was only the second one I have ever handled I bought it.
I originally bought this as a carry piece. Now I am not so sure that I want to carry it.

You got a good deal.
I wouldn't hesitate to carry it. I have a 2" square butt 4 screw that I bought about 15 years ago. Mine carries very nicely.

S & W model 12

Years ago some time in the 1980's I acquired a blue 2 inch model 12. The outside condition was rough but it fired fine. I used it as my service weapon for about a year. I them bought a new model 12 again in 2 inch, but with a nkl finish. Kept that for years until a friend talked me into selling it to him. That was when everybody was switching to semi auto guns. My two model 12's were great guns!

You all are right. I don't believe in safe queens and this one certainly isn't pristine anyway.
I bought some Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWC standard velocity rounds to try through it and use as my carry ammunition for this piece.

When my model 49 gets back from the gunsmith it will make a nice companion to the model 12. The model 49 is getting parkerized after many years of being carried and maybe having 50% of the bluing left on it. I always wanted a parkerized revolver for some reason. I think I will put some VZ grips on it when it returns.

oneminute, I had the chance to buy a 2" model 12 a few years ago and passed it up. I'm glad you didn't make the same mistake. Have fun.

Also carry one of them weekly, i just carry it with low pressure ammunition.

They are a great carry gun

I have a 2" round butt 12-2 in mint condition that i purchased on a lark a few years ago. I decided that I would not carry it because they have a tendency to have the finish come off easily. I sold it to a friend at his pawn shop. It sat in there for over a year and never sold. Every time I went in the shop he would say, "you should buy that gun back". One day I did and still have it. You don't see them often.

Very under-rated S&W.
Great carry piece.
Here is my 1963 vintage 12.

My 1963 Model 12-2. It's my primary off-duty gun and, after I retire in August, it will be my primary carry gun alternating with my 1982 Model 13-3 for traveling. Mine is missing finish, but I'm going to get it Ceracoted black.

Had one from ODOC. Wonderful action, square butt. Traded it for a 12-3 Rd butt nickel. Best carry gun ever made, IMHO
