Bought a 66-2 Snubbie Today.

I was looking for a 19 snubbie but this 66-2 popped up on my local forum. Figured if I really want a 19 this may serve as trade bait. The gun could use a cleaning.

It's unlikely to break into my EDC Rotation of Glocks 19 & 29 and a LCP.

And just because I am always curious as to what people paid, this one was $650.

I think you did fine on the price. Around here a snubby 66 in that shape with the original grips would start at 7 bills and not last long.

All you need now is a Tyler T grip and some .357 Silvertips.

I have a model 19 , 2 and half snub , bought in 1972 when FBI claimed them as their official duty gun . Came in blue but I had it re-finished to Nickel and added Rosewood finger groove grips . Definitely a Keeper would not sell or trade . Good luck with your search for a 19 S&W Snubby

Great find at a good price, never sell it or trade it for a 19. You can always sell a kidney first. I still regret selling my 19 snubbie. I have a 66 snubbie, now, but wish I had both.

I paid over $800 for a nice 66-2 two days ago. Probably either bought it too high or too early. From a guy I know that really didn't want to sell it. Guns I paid too much for a couple years ago have come along. I just love K frames and particularly the 2.5 inch guns.

The 2 1/2" model 19/66's are just the end all be all of working guns. I find them small enough to carry but they feel like a real gun in my hand.
I've been lucky enough to come into several of them. For appearance I prefer the model 19 series, but the 2 ½" model 66's would be one of the last, if not the last firearm I would give up.

Very nice. I have had similar problems finding a 2 1/2" P&R model 19 for a price I will pay. Since my search started a few years back I have bought the following, and still haven't found the 19 I seek:

- 2 1/2" 66-2 (ANIB safe queen, with box/papers/kit)
- 2 1/2" 66-5 (now my off-duty EDC)
- 4" model 19-2, nice condition, but missing original stocks, it's a shooter
- 2" model 15-2, square butt
- 2" DAO, factory bobbed model 64-6
- a very nice Combat Masterpiece with original grips and box from 1953

Have I mentioned that I really like K frames?

Here's a ouch - two days ago a 66-1 snubbie in great shape came up for $600. I was the first to see it, could have been mine. But i was extended with a trade that day to get a Sig 716 308 and didnt want to spend any mote money. Our daughter starts at Auburn in August.

Well the Sig 308 guy wigged out. I called on the 66-1 but it was gone. Surprise.

Yes, the 66 feels great in my hand. Strange that it is noticeably more substantial than a J Frame, yet also noticeably more nimble than a 686. I didnt realize the gap between the J & L.

Long before I was 10...... some of my Dad's buddies would put their snubbies on the card table next to the pile of pennies for their Friday night card games.
Heavier than my cap pistols.
Ruger snubbies are nice but in the early '50s it was Smith and Colt.
Never bought an M25 but a 460 Smith with a short barrel will work for this reloader.
The 629 4" just arrived in Denver today..... my Elk eating kids are closer to meat without Florida muckflavoring.

We hunt with fishing rods in South Florida!
I guess it'll be fly rods out there.

I lucked into a 66-1 w/2.5" barrel myself last month. Also paid the $650 asking price, without a dicker. They don't show up here often, and never for $650. We done good! (for today's markey) It kills me when I think about buying my 4" 66-1 for $199, and I only bought the one. Hi-cap 9's were the rage, and LEO weapons were being bought up by the truckload.

Both are keepers in my book.

My find...

I have some other K frame snubbies but they're P&R, I feel that they're too hard to replace for me to use them just banging around in the woods, EDC and such. Picked up a 66-2 about 2 months ago w/ the intention of using it as EDC.
It is a really nice firearm, smooth, I don't think the trigger had been tinkered with and is in good condition, appearance wise and mechanically.
I paid $750 to a private seller who wouldn't budge any on the sale price. There was a nice Galco high ride holster included so I thought I did OK.
I think you did very well on your purchase. Enjoy your new firearm.

Nice find! I owned a 2.5" 66 in the 1990s. Even used it in a revolver bullseye league. I now have a 686-4+ in 2.5" but still wish I had that 66 too.
