I was born with my P shooter.

Depending on the size/type of straw.............
we would use little green or the baby white beans as our favorite ammo.
It was one way to get us boys to wear a shirt with a pocket on it !!

Any excuse to light a charge was welcome but those of us with more brass than sense would pop the caps with a fingernail.

I remember that! Usually, it would work out okay, but it was a @#&$@#%! if the flaming powder paper got stuck under your fingernail!
