Man, you beat me to the punch. I was going to suggest the saddle blanket seat cover. Love the truck and those tires. I had a 70 Bronco with the same style of front hubs and they are easy to service. Nothing Not to like, congrats.

I get more compliments on the tires than anything else.
When I took them to the tire store to get them mounted and balanced
the technician said "WOW!! I haven't seen a set of tires like those in a LONG time!"

They get flat spots bad when you park it in freezing temps and drive
it the next morning. They will shake your teeth out. LOL

I love old Ford trucks, especially 3/4 tons. Around 1980 I bought a 1967 3/4 ton with over 200,000 miles on it. It had 300 CI six cylinder and a 4 speed floor shift with the granny gear and a posi track rear end.(I had no problem following the 4X4's my buddies were driving on hunting trips) It had no air and or power anything. With the help of a friend more talented than I we rebuilt that old six cylinder, the front end and a few more things and got it in very good mechanical condition. It was slow, but it worked. I worked the hell out of that old truck hunting, fishing, hauling and selling firewood and put another 100,000 plus miles on it. In 1993 I sold it to a lawyer buddy of mine who liked old stuff. He went through the whole truck again, replaced the bed I had beat up hauling wood, and cosmetically restored it. He's still driving it around his 200 acre farm and said it was in his will to come back to me if he predeceased me. Probably won't happen so I guess I'll stick with the 06 F 150 I piddle with.

That's what good paint does...it protects. You don't have to spray it 20 coats deep and hand sand it etc etc. Your truck is still rust free enough now to preserve it without major surgery.

Rust never sleeps..but you can make it very lazy.

Just a good solid clean paint job does wonders to maintain the body for years...and soul.

I use my old '64 a lot, and not going to car shows.The guy at Lowes was shocked when I backed ole Blue up to the lumber pile and started to load it up..

I think this body style Ford F-250 4x4 is one of the if not the best looking
trucks ever built.

And if you stand far enough away even mine looks good.




It never ceases to amaze me at the tiny little parts that you can still buy
for these old truck.

I just got this windshield washer hose Tee today. It is exactly like the
original one.




So far I'm very happy with the 410. It runs great.

Checked the advance cures in the distributor today. The distributor is out
of the original 360 so it has electronic ignition.

Full mechanical advance at 1600 rpm and total advance at about 2400
rpm. That works for me.

After dropping two jet sizes in the primary side and driving respectably I
got 12.4 mpg on my last tank of gas. I'm good with that too.

After I get about 500 miles on the new plugs I'll pop a couple of
them out and see how the look and go from there.

Those 300 6 cyl never die. They are one tough engine.

Mine does have power assist steering but nothing else is power.
Except the 410 under the hood.

Rust was a discussion I had just yesterday.
What I will most likely do is use a wire brush to remove the rust
surface and the spray it with muriatic acid to eat the rust and
then put a clear coat over it.

May I suggest POR-15? It is easy to apply with brush or sprayer..and absolutely works! You just remove any loose rust and it converts/seals the rust. Google it..the stuff is amazing..

You could not get me to buy another Ford product. I had a 72 F100 302. Nice vehicle except the cab rottedd off the mounts. I replaced it with an 82 4WD that had frozen brakes every 7000 miles. Replaced that with an 84, that had brake seizures you could set your watch by too. Also, there is a reason they do not make that 5.7L junk engine, with spark plug issues and common cracked exhaust manifolds

Over the weekend I replaced the old hard valve stem seals that
were installed 50 years ago when the 410 was originally rebuilt.








So I decided while I was in there that deep I'd install a Edelbrock
Performer aluminum intake manifold to compliment the Holley
650 cfm mechanical secondary carburetor I instilled some time ago.

The new manifold, carburetor, and hedders compliment the 10.5:1
compression and RV cam in the Mercury 410.

Mercury took the crank out of the 428 first produced in 1966 and put them in a 390 stroking it to a 410.

They only produced them for 2 years, 1966 and 1967.

I feel very fortunate to have found this one. They are hard to come by.

I like it. I'm a FORD guy: 1956 Mercury, 1960 T-Bird, 1972 F100, 1986 F150, 91 E350/460, 1996 BRONCO.

I had to laugh at a chevy freak stated that FORDS make too much wind noise because of the manly square body.

I almost bought a new 1996 Bronco, there were only 6 left on the lot
and that was the end of them. I ended up with a real nice 1989 and loved it.

That Chevy PU is the only Chevy I've owned and I hate to say it
but it was the most trouble free vehicle I've ever owned.

It had 242,000 miles on it when I wrecked it and it still had the factory
brake pads on it even after hauling that 4000 lb camper.
It used maybe a cup of oil every 5000 miles once again hauling that
big old camper. He had the 6.0L gasser.

I have always been a Ford man but when I bout it the ergonomics fit me perfect.

1960 Birds are beautiful cars.

New tires should be here tomorrow.

I bought my new tires from Simple Tire. This was the 2nd or 3rd set of tires I've purchased from them.
I ordered them Thursday and they were delivered early Monday morning.







Here's the first set of tires I put on the truck, 7.50x16 bias-ply traction tires.
I got really tired of listening to them howl going down the road.









I'm liking these new ones a whole lot better.
