Bought something stupid

Wow-what is going to where it, and do they have fuel injection that works with 2 throttle bodies-so to speak?

A Ford small block. Fast and fitech makes efi throttle bodies that will work on this.
What I heard is this intake was or is impossible to tune right. One carburetor feeds the opposite sides cylinders and vice versa.

"Two fours....three Twos.... four deuces" ! Makes me wanna go out in the garage and crank something. :D

Me too.
I know these cross rams are obsolete by today's standards. But what I read is I can get good turque. Correct me if I am wrong though.

I done this to my self. Go ahead. Let me have it! I can take it.
I'm going to try it with it fuel injection.

that will cost you money you will never see again .. return on souping up a hotrod are probably only 40-50% of costs if time is included ..

I've had a Bud Moore "mini-plenum" Boss 302 intake for years. It was modified to raise the port floors for aluminum heads. I was going to modify some spacers for a 351 Cleveland four bolt block, but have yet to complete the project. (It's runners are longer than you would expect as they start on the far side of the plenum from the head.)

I like the concept (especially the old Chrysler super long cross ram intake) but would do initial testing with a couple of 450cfm Holleys. I have one already with the "in cabin" tunable jet add-on, great carb for lots of street purposes. Used it for a long time on top of a 351 Windsor.

Helluva cool paperweight. I'm grew up in the carburetor era and don't miss it for a second, although I still rebuild a few of them every year for customers I can't talk into converting to injection. Todays injection systems are so accurate and simple even a caveman can do it. :)

l remember cross ram manifolds from the 60s.. Esp the Chrysler 300s of

that era.. They were pure works of art.. Left bank 4bbl carb mounted

over the right cylinder head with four individual runners.. Cast iron too..

Chevy had a cross ram setup as a dealer installed option on their 68/69

Z28 302s.

l had a little 65 Fairlane 289 HiPo 271HP 4speed. 585cfm Holley carb.

Those little solid lifter Hipo motors would pull 7000rpm with ease.

l lost interest in cars when carbs, points, and distributers went away...

Bout the only things still using a carburetor are push mowers and weed eaters:-(

I'll have the roast duck with the mango salsa.

This intake didn't cost that much. I bought it right after I got my truck out of the shop. I seen the big block fe version sell for north of 1500. I seen this one selling at a price that fits my budget. I just had to have it.

This is similar to my idea.

The only thing stupid about it is it being for a small block Ford instead of a Chevy. :p :D

Yeah. I heard the factory develop Z28 was an easier system. If I remember correctly. It has a shared system. Made it easier to tune.

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. Go for it, and I hope you can get it to work. I'm obsolete by today's standards. All I work on now is changing oil and wiper blades.

...and points. Can't say I miss those, either. ;)

I read the article that is from. It's really neat how they put it together.

When my sister was getting married in the mid 70's my future brother in law asked me if I could help him get his old car ready for sale. It was sitting in his fathers garage and since he was getting married his father wanted it gone. It was a 1963 Chrysler 300G with a 413 with factory dual quads. It had been sitting for several years. We replaced the battery, bled the brakes and added some fresh gas and got it to start. In the trunk I found the factory dual quad ram tubes. My brother in law said they were in the trunk when he purchased it and he had just left them there.

I did some research and found out Chrysler shipped them in the trunk so the end purchaser could install them if they wanted. Cold start problems and terrible low speed driveability was a real issue. I think most of them stayed in the trunk or got tossed in the trash, they are pretty rare today.

I bet he wished he kept the car today.

Several times over the years he mentioned that car and said it was one he wish he had kept. He had some nice cars throughout the years including a 1987 GNX Regal he got new in 1987. Unfortunately he and the cars are gone now.

Back then, the ideal carb size 2 cfm per cu inch displacement for stock engines..

That 65/289 Fairlane had a 585 Holley.. Not stock, so l installed 1 1/2'' headers.

Ran alot better afterwards... l think the stock Autolite 4bbl may have been 450 cfm.
