Thank you. I am having a great time doing this hobby. This blade is 1084 carbon steel.

Thank you! I lightly touched it with a propane torch. Mostly to darken the area next to the guard. I also use a light rub of leather dye.

I actually have a coffin handled Bowie pattern someone sent me.
The history and mystic that surrounds the Bowie is very intriguing. I have read accounts of the sandbar fight and the lore of the ‘knife’ that followed. I’m getting hooked on them to be honest.
