Back in the 80s I believe a friend and I would go to another old friend's house on Thursday's and watch boxing on USA network with Larry Merchant and Sean O'Grady. They'd show matches from all kinds of venues, big and small. Mainly lighter weight classes.
One of the funniest things I saw was one boxer trash talking his opponent before the fight. Saying he had no power, couldn't punch etc. The fight started and the supposedly weak opponent came out and really clocked the guy doing the trash talking. Laid him out! After the fight Larry went up and asked the loser, what he had to say about his opponent now? The guy said I'll let you know after the fight. Larry said the fights over, you lost. The boxer persisted saying, No, we haven't fought yet. The guy had no recollection of the match.
Anyone else remember the match? The fighters? I looked on the tube but can't find it.
I love it when people are fed a dish of crow and humble pie.
