Boycott Cheaper than Dirt

I read our local "Red Rag" of a newspaper tonight. On the front page was a column by AP [associated press] that brought up the fact that NRA hasn't replied to their questions. I read the whle thing thru & deceided it was a hatchet job for sure. Don't believe half of what you see & nothing you hear. I feel bad about what happened but a kid on prescribed meds can't be all together mentally.

I just saw on _ _ X news that the NRA made a statement but I was cooking dinner and missed it...

"NRA STATEMENT

12/18/2012

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters - and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time."

I quit CTD when they started storing common items in seperate warehouses and then wanted to charge seperate shipping from each one. last time I almost placed an order the shipping would have been more than the cost of the items.
Needless to say the order did not get placed and I haven't been back since.

Guess you need to end shopping at Dick's Sporting Goods, since they removed all guns from the its Store nearest NewTown, CT and is suspending the sale of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles from its chains nationwide.

The NRA has gone silent since Friday. You going to boycott the NRA as well?

Just curious.

I'm a life member of NRA. I didnt hear that theyre going to stop showing ads for semi autos in their magazines. Such actions put the spotlight where it doesnt belong - - - - on the guns, rather than the mentally disturbed murderers taking psychiatric drugs that can increase the likelihood of suicide and violent behavior. Isnt this obvious ?

I prefer the stronger stands taken by GunOwners of America (GOA) and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO). You dont have to be Jewish to join JPFO. They know history, including what happened to a lot of innocent people in 1930s Germany when they were disarmed.

Boycott them?
Heck, I can't afford them.
$700 for 1000 rds of 5.56!

I think boycott is a strong term.

If they they think their business is better not selling guns that is their right.

It's your right not to give them your business.

I do not buy from them because I have found their prices on ammo good, but their shipping charge for ammunition high.

That's when I stopped giving them my money...the whole ammo and magazine thing they did in 2008. I wouldn't doubt if this is just another ploy for them to make more money...

Last flyer I received from CTD showed that they were selling the M855 at $499 a thousand. Seems to me they are mighty proud of what they sell. Or gouge the customer, take your pick. Frank

Well you all are going to be busy boycotting all of the gun jobbers that sell the Daniel Defense Ambush 300 AAC Blackout AR-15(necked up .223 Rem. to .308). I just won the only one on G.B.tonight. and did a Google search and it appears that better than 20 different gun stores have pulled this model from their shelves.I could not find one dealer who had not pulled this gun off their sales list,it was the only model I looked at.

I only wish those on the left would have had the courtesy and the decency to do what the NRA did and not say anything until the facts were in. It's called respect. Instead from the President, several Senators and Congressman, a few mayors and pretty much most of the media decided to call for gun control before the bodies of those little children had even been identified and almost no proven evidence had been collected. To me anyone calling for legislation should have been publicly shunned because it was at the least insensitive and at best positively ghoulish.

What's remarkable to me is CTD's Facebook site losing likes at a rate faster than I've ever seen any single Facebook page related to firearms ever lose likes in the site's history. I don't go on FB to blog about my lunch; just to post pictures of model cars, but I do subscribe to businesses that I either support or used to support. At 10 AM EST yesterday (technically, as I'm on EST), CTD had about 277,000 "likes". The actual rate of loss fluctuated, but they peaked at 100 lost "likes" per minute at about 1 PM EST. As of the time I'm typing this sentence (3:24 AM EST), they have 195,310 "likes". Just wrap your head around that: that's over 80,000 lost likes in one day. I estimate that about half those were just following, but that approximately half had at least on one occassion purchased from CTD. Of those 40,000, I would estimate about 10,000 to have been regular or semi-regular customers. If you're the size of CTD and you lose 10,000 regular or semi-regular customers, can you even survive a financial hit of that magnitude?

As I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, I hav'nt been
a CTD customer for a few years due to their price gouging.

The sad aspect of all this is that it's a "double-edged" sword for us gun
owners, which applies to other companies that are also trying to placate
"others" while turning their backs on "us" in the process.

The double-edged sword comment simply means that by us boycotting certain
companies, no matter how justified, it could possibly do more harm to us, in
the long run, than anything "The Brady Bunch" could do to us on their own.
At least in certain aspects........:(
