I've tried and tried to design a functional brass catcher for use when shooting my semi auto pistols, but without much success. I shoot at both indoor and outdoor ranges.
What do you use or what have you built that really works without being a bother to your shooting? Post photos if possible. Thanks

My old department's range guys bought one of these

Ammo-Up Shotgun Shell and Brass Collectors

Worked very well on a smoother surface (our range had astroturf over concrete. It wasn't as effective on the dirt area outside the 25 yard line, but it still got probably 50%+ of the brass in the dirt, which was 50% less bending down for us.

Or just throw a large tarp down over where you are going to shoot. Then just bunch up the tarp when you're done.

That is one neat looking rig, but at $395 for the 16" wide one and $495 for the 24" wide one, the tarp seems like a much better deal.

This one from Bubca, seems like a more realistic price range one, and involves just setting it up to catch brass.

Had to laugh. When I saw Graco my first thought was this.

I shoot in my father's field and have been trying to figure a framework, that would allow me to put up a tarp vertically, leaving the bottom laid out a little. This way it would cover a large area, stop the brass from going far, and allow it to still be visible once it reaches bottom.

Ah Grasshopper, Try using chopsticks, when you can pluck a full magazine load from the air before brass hits ground you may wear Black Belt proudly instead of being whipped by black belt. Remember Wacks on - Wacks-off. :)

Go to the fishing department and get a big fish net. Set it to the side where the cases fly right in the hoop into the net. Cheap, easy.
