I picked up my Brazilain M1917 this afternoon and I have to say it is an exceptional shooter.

It shoots center for windage and about an inch high for elevatiion at 15 yards with both handloads I was using.

The previous owner filed a little off the front sight I assume to hit POA with the loads he was using.

As you can see it's been reparked and the Brazilian crest is very faint.

No pitting on he surface areas but there is pitting on the grip frame (that was parked over) not visible with the grips attached.

I bought this as a shooter and couldn't be more happy.

It came with rubber grips that I replaced with these non period magnas. I couldn't post pics of this old girl wearing rubber shoes.

I apologize for the quality of the Pics sooner or later I will get the hang of this phot thing.

I have shyed away from revolvers that shoot rimless ctgs my whole life. I didn't want to have to deal with the moon clips. I fired a couple of hundred rounds through this one without using the clips, brass just fell out of the chambers. The brass that didn't was easily picked out using my fingers. I was suprised.

I had always heard these do not shoot cast bullets wee due to shallow rifling but this on shoots 200 grain swc's quite well. this is a 2.5 inch group offhand at 15 yards.

You obviously got a good one! Nice shooting.

As an alternative to moonclips you can try the Rimz brand plastic clips. They are really easy to load/unload, allow for easy ejection and keep the brass together.

good shooting. i did not think i would care for shooting one of these thing, but, as you found out, they are a hoot. 454 bullets shoot a bit better than the 452s if you can find them. your revolver looks good to me with that finish too

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Like i said for years I wouldn't have anything to do with these but I can see now that I did myself a disservice by ignoring them.

I'll have to try and find some period grips for it when time allows but these will have to do for the time being.

When I shot my Brazilian the other day I used the Rimz plastic clips but found them difficult to eject. Without the clips I didn't have any problems extracting spent rounds; most fell out of the cylinder and the rest were easily pried out. Enjoy your Brazilian.

I use RIMZ moon clips in my 625-8 with zero problems. For "Duty Use" I would prefer the steel clips but for range use, the RIMZ clips win "hands down".

NOTE:
There is a right way and a wrong way to load the RIMZ clips. If you loaded them correctly you shouldn't have any problems with using them.
