Finally got my Brazil contract 1917 down to the range. A pleasant shooting experience. Recoil is pretty manageable and the big N frame felt good with the smooth service grips. At 10 yards it appears to hit slightly to the left from point of aim but that could be due to this shooter's eyesight! Despite investing in some full moon clips, had no trouble extracting spent brass witout them. Ejecting the clip was more of a hassle due to a tight fit. Ammo used was Wolf .45 ACP 230 grain FMJ.

Nice shooting. Amazing how well these 70 year old guns still shoot. I wouldn't want to be on the business of one if the owner was out to get me. Enjoy your Brazilian.

Here is a target from my Brazilian. This is about equal to one I had about 15 years ago. Not bad for open sights and 50 year old eyes.

Outstanding shooting there! The 1917 is so much fun to shoot. As if I am saying anything that you don't already know! Question: do you wear prescription glasses? I have bifocals and either the sight is fuzzy or the target. Possibly the way to go is to use drugstore magnifiers for shooting? Any thoughts?

I do wear bifocals. I just hold my head high and use them for shooting. The front sight is clear, but the target is fuzzy. I used to shoot at 25 yds, but have had to move it up to 20 yds. I had thought about the same thing, but just have not got to the optical center to do so.
