Break in ammo

Don't use an ink pen on this paper until you've written at least 100 words in pencil.

Break-in: clean it, go to the range and shoot it. Hardball 'cause it's cheap, my reloads 'cause they're cheaper, and 100 rounds of whatever I plan on carrying in it... in no particular order.

Agreed. I don't reload, but I do run the cheapest ammo that works in my pistol just as I run the cheapest gas that works in my car.

I received my S&W M&P Mod 2.0 in flat dark earth with the 5 inch barrel on a Thursday and took it to the range that weekend. I shoot a 100 round box of Winchester White Box jacketed hollow point because that was what I had on the shelf. I also took the opportunity to clear out some odds and ends of different brands and weights.

The Smith is my new every day carry. I ran JHP in my previous pistol and will continue with the Smith. My preference when I go to the range is to fire my basic load of JHP then a box or two more. Then reload with JHP. My pistol handles FMJ and JHP equally well. The price difference locally is not great enough for my to choose to practice with FJM exclusively. 34 years of training soldiers has engrained the "train as you fight" attitude in me. I prefer to practice with my self-defense round.

Bottom line is to find the ammo that works for your gun and you; that is priced so that you will actually practice. :)

When I bought my 40 Shield I got together all the 40 ammo I had at the time including hollow points & JHP's all different brands. I shot it in no particular order & the gun ate it all without any malfunctions. That was my break in & it's run fine since. I did the same thing with my 40c when I bought it

There used to be a link on a Brian Enos forum I think that was titled something along the lines of BS heard at gunshops. This would fit well.

First rounds I shot in my shield when I got it were Blazer Brass 115g, I believe, and I use them a lot now too. No issues of course.

I did have zero luck with Winchester ammo though, man my shield did not like any of it so I stay clear now.

Hmmm, Let me think about this.

Ok,

If you break in, I'll probably let you test whatever 45ACP I have first, then if needed switch over to 9mm. I've currently got 4 mags for the 45, and 12 for the 9's. Honestly, if we get to the point where I've swapped over to the 9's then I'm probably not using the right tool for the situation at hand. That would be, "My Bad" for not being prepared better.

Sorry, read the thread wrong.

Ummm, that sales guy is full of excrement.
