BREAKING NEWS - NC Governor Suspends Gun Rights

I did get a letter back from my State Senator Purcell ....... Nothing from the Govemor's office or my State Representative yet.

***" I was not aware of this provision but I will try to learn more about it. Thanks for calling it to my attention.
Sincerely yours,
Senator Bill Purcell "***

The shameful part of this is that THIS is the only place I have heard about it.

Received this from one of Sen. Purcells staffers. It helps to clarify what happened. I thanked them for the reply and information and politely asked that he work to have this changed. Again, anyone else in NC needs to do this same thing - contact your State Sen., House Rep. and the Govenor's office. Its the only hope we have of getting anything changed. The "good" part of this (not that it's good in any way) if you read it is that the provision only effects the area designated as being in a state of emergency and it only effects concealed carry.

**** " General Statute 14-288.7 ( GS_14-288.7) states that it is unlawful to carry a concealed weapon in an area designated as being in a state of emergency. Gov. Perdue's proclamation of a state of emergency for Hurricane Earl can be found here (http://www.governor.state.nc.us/NewsItems/UploadedFiles/9aaa0ab4-33f8-41ef-b527-087a46ecef7f.pdf). It looks like the statute was first introduced in 1969 and last modified in 1994. I hope this information helps.

Sincerely,

Amen brother we're all hoping she's voted out as well, you want a look at dirty politics check out how we (North Carolina) got the lottery that we didn't want.

I've said it before and I will say it again: North Carolina is New Jersey South.

Add NY South also :( I just got back from the Raleigh area 2 days ago, thought I never left NY. Sorry folks, the liberal trash is invading the South and breeding. Couldn't believe all the stickers with you know whose name on them.

I would think that H.R 5013, passed by Congress and signed by Bush would override all of this. This federal bill, written after Katrina, prohibits the confiscation of firearms from citizens during states of emergency by any agent of the Federal Government or anyone receiving Federal funds, which would include state officials.

What's happening in NC sounds illegal to me.

You must have visited Cary, the Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.

By what authority?

What is this, Katrina part 2?

What is it with female governors and their inability to understand Constitutional rights?

Our female governor here is Arizona has done more to protect gun owner's and citizen rights than the other 49 governors combined!

Come to California and try our rediculous policies. What they are doin has to be unconstitutional. I dont understand how we cant override these laws, what happened to us voting?
