I thought some of you guys might want to know what Brett has been up to since he finally retired. The local fishwrap (Hattiesburg American | Hattiesburg news, community, entertainment, yellow pages and classifieds. Serving Hattiesburg, Mississippi | hattiesburgamerican.com) has an interesting article about him in today's edition. He's going to be coaching football at one of the local high schools. His daughters went to this school and he has friends there. He will not be getting paid for his services. Like him or not, I thought it was good of him to give something back to the community. ESPN will be televising some of the games

As you might already know, his dad, Irvin Favre, who was a strong favorable influence on Brett, was a long-time respected high school football coach for many years guiding many young men into manhood. I am not surprised Brett is giving back to his community. The acorn don't fall far from the tree.

Glad to hear he's giving back and helping the community.
Let's just hope he only uses his cell phone nowadays to
make phone calls.

Always a competitor and as tough a QB that has ever played the game. Best wishes to him and his family.

Farve is one of the good guys. I live in Louisville area so I root for the Louisville Cardinals. They were getting the football program together in the late 80s under coach Howard Schnellenburger and it looks like they have Southern Miss beat. Farve flings a hail Mary, hits a guy in the helmet, his player catches the deflection and we lose when SM scores with no time left on the clock.

My grandsons play football. I don't think I would want the moral values of Favre held up to them as an example. He is just like a lot of spoiled, rich athletes. They never are told "no", so they get a warped sense of morals. He knows how to play football and maybe can teach the game, but Lord help the young men who are star struck by him and follow in his footsteps.

I would not want that arrogant degenerate near my kids. Would rather have a positive role model. I judge people by their character not by how many football games they win. Spoken from Favre country.

He was a great football player for sure, and it's nice to see that he is able to use his talents to help out the local kids.

There are very few folks in professional sports nowadays who are good role models. Favre ain't the worst of them!

Ok Charlie, you have rested long enough. We need some of your cop stories. I need some good laughs. Get to it!!!!!:)

Doublesharp, I was at that game. We had given Howard hell in Hattiesburg the year before (I was sitting right behinde the Louiseville bench with a bunch of other loudmouths) and I was convinced we had lost until the Haily Mary went our way.
