I was just notified of the new Handloader magazine ready for download (#267 Aug-Sept issue). I downloaded it and have read several of the articles. Brian Pearce's article on the S&W Pro Series 627 is outstanding. I have long been a fan of Brian's based entirely on his articles (as we have never met).

This is not only an excellent review of what appears to be a FINE revolver but has much to commend it regarding reloading the .357 magnum with up-to-date information on powders and primers. I have been reloading the .357 magnum for well over fifty years and still find there is something to learn.

His tale of the game warden's run in with a grizzly is chilling. It also suggests that for big, tough, animals, there is nothing better than a good cast bullet of the proper shape and weight for the job at hand.

I recommend it without reservation.

That article is not available on the free website sample, so it looks like I might have to fork over big bucks for the printed magazine, if it's on the newsstand yet.

Was looking for the latest issue Saturday but the June issue was still up (have found this mag in one store most of the time, may have to subscribe)

You might want to subscribe to the E-magazine versions (you get three subscriptions for the price of one). My house got so cluttered with magazines that it was getting to be a serious problem. I now put all I can on the computer and am MUCH happier. The data is instantly available and I have no storage issues. Hard drives are large and relatively inexpensive these days. In fact, it would probably make more sense to have an external drive dedicated to magazines. Here is the link to subscribing:

You also get the E-magazine about two weeks before they come by mail or hit the newstand.

Just a thought or two...

Dale 53,

I have looked at the $20.00 e-magazine subscription before, but my only interest is in Handloader, and being old fashioned, I prefer paper magazines. I can't take my computer into the bathroom with me. So, I'll just have to wait a couple weeks for the new issue to hit the stands. In the meantime, did Peirce like the 627 Pro? Thanks.
