I'm watchng the NBC news and Brian Williams was interviewing the widow of Steve Jobs, the late Apple computer man.

Mrs. Jobs wants to allow citizenship to undocumented aliens. The usual PC stuff was said.

Then, Williams said that many just want more Latinos here to expand the tax base or to keep their own sons from having to join the Marines!

That's pretty blatant, even for a liberal elitist newsman.

I thought the Marines here might want to feel a little insulted, maybe even complain to NBC or their local affliates. If my service had been in the Corps, I'd feel that way.

Come to think of it, I think I'd be insulted if I was Latino and he was inferring that our lot was not worthy of higher aspirations. But that might not register with Marines, many of whom seem to think that there is no higher calling. ;)

Williams is a pretty smug typical NBC newsman, promoting their liberal slant on the "news." But to infer that "better" people ought to hope that Mexicans, etc. might fill the ranks of the USMC so that teens from his social class won't be tempted or needed to join is insulting to both Latinos and to the USMC.

Mr. Williams always strives to give it the utmost, extra ummmmphh! to reach the bottom of the barrel, and he usually succeeds.

The radical left has been empowered, and nothing they say, do, don't say, don't do will be held to account....

Smug, self satisfied, I'm better than the people who watch me, typical media nitwit.

Texas Star, your mistake is watching him. He insulted Marines, Hispanics, non Hispanics, and everyone that isn't him.

Well, yes. And I'm half tempted to ask him how he likes his daughter's racy role on Broadway. He was reportedly so worried about nudity that he began sneaking in to watch the show. But that might be sinking to his level...

I watch him partly because he is guaranteed to mention the worst news on gun control, because he wants to make it seem to be gaining. So, the latest emotional smut on that is sure to be mentioned.

And I watch him because that channel locally has the hottest blonde anchor following his program. That's Meredith Land on Ch. 5 in Dallas-Ft. Worth. Meredith is about half of William's ability to get my TV set on that channel in the late afternoon. But I sometimes get a fill of NBC and just change channels if he dwells too much on the troubles or death of some drug using rock star. These seem to be his social icons.

Don't like Brian Williams. I usually watch Scott Pelley on CBS, as he seems the least offensive.

She is rather attractive. I don't know if I'd be willing to put up with Williams to watch her though. ;)

I expect this thread to get locked or deleted shortly

One should always remember the source of the comment and take that into account.

Anything else I could write here on this would get me banned.

I agree and I think you phrased that well.

None of these talking heads is about fair and balanced reporting. But NBC seems the absolute worst on gun control just now.

Even the local media are pretty naive about much of the world. And it's nothing for them to confuse an airman, a marine, and a soldier. I doubt they make an intellectual distinction. Few seem to be veterans of anything but rock concerts.

One guy was trying on Ch. 5 to pump up discord with the decision to allow small knives back on commercial planes. So, he held up a Victorinox (I think) knife that measures 91mm closed. The announced limit is well below that length. (The limits are on blade length but the largest Victorinox that makes the cut measures about 72mm closed on my ruler. That's their Executive model. My Spartan is 91mm. Blade length is 5.5CM on the smaller knife. The reporter should should have been able to tell at a glance that the knife that he held up is well over the proposed limit. I suppose that he was after dramatic emotional impact to alarm those who fly.

Just might be the idiot had "other" reasons for sneaking in. I wouldn't tune him in no matter who they teamed him up with.

For crying out loud, if you complain to NBC or to your local affliate, spell right. One officer above spelled "mercenary" wrong in his post. I hope that error wasn't in his complaint.

I know that it's easy to get steamed over an issue like this, but check spelling! Otherwise, you simply confirm to the network that he's right that his detractors are rednecked ninnies.

Most media people are fairly vacuous, but they are trained to spell. And they tend to be fairly articulate.
