My club only has two outdoor pistol ranges. Yesterday, when I pulled up in the Tacoma, both ranges were occupied. Two young guys who were on range #1 saw that I was waiting on a range and invited me to come shoot with them. They had a steel target setup at about 20 yards and were shooting mostly 9mm Luger in Glock19, Sig 365, and Springfield Hellcat Pro. One of them also had a Taurus TX22. I took three guns to the range including a Polish TT-C, a Kel Tec P32 and my constant range bag gun, a S&W Model 65-5 round butt 3-inch. We had a nice session shooting each others' guns and talking about shooting and guns. These were college kids in their 20's finding common ground with me in my early 70's. They had never seen a Tokarev; Russian or Polish. I let them blast away with some Chinese steel-case and they were surprised by the power of the 7.62x25 round. One of the guys named Mike had never fired a revolver, so I pulled out the S&W Model 65-5 and let him shoot about 25 of my wadcutter reloads. He started out shooting single action then went on to double action and was hitting the steel gong pretty good for never having fired a revolver (young eyes and shooting experience with semi-autos obviously helped). I explained the details of the cylinder movement and showed him how to accomplish partial reloads (three rounds). In summary, I had a great session with these guys; I got to shoot the TX22, P365 and Springfield Hellcat (really liked the TX22). It just goes to prove that between shooters there really isn't that much of generation gap.
