Briley vs Reg Bushing

I recently picked up a commander SW 1911 PC with the round butt and the lightning cuts it slide. All I can is WOW, what a great looking and shooting gun.

In terms of accuracy, what could I expect to lose if I ever switch to a regular bushing in place of the briley?

Why would you even consider that change?

The Briley Titanium-Nitride Spherical bushing reduces friction and wear. It also allows for a much tighter barrel/bushing/slide fit while maintaining reliability.

You might need to replace the barrel along with the bushing. I do not know if you will find a standard bushing with enough excess metal to be fitted to a Briley style barrel.

If you are a terrible shot, you will most likely see no change at all.

If your shooting skills are anywhere above novice, your groups will visibly grow. How much they will grow is somewhat dependent on your skills and the gun smith that did the conversion for you.

That is one of the critical interfaces that has a sizeable bearing on overall accuracy.....no pun intended. In my experience, changing to a fixed bushing would be a step down.

Briley bushings are ordered so that the collar itself is .001" larger than the barrel OD. The collars are coated with titanium nitride.....which makes them resist wear, and increases lubricity. Hard to beat this system, if the bushing body is properly fit to the slide.

The advantage is you can change out the inside ring and not the entire bushing down the road after X amount of rounds. Here new with a Colt/Talo Clapp Commander and a S&W PC in Commander size.
