I've read that the gorgeous 3913NL was, in its day and perhaps today as well, the best-shooting semi-auto ever made by S&W.

Love my M&P 40s in full-size and Shield, but I would be all over a .40 cal version of the 3913NL.:D

If anybody knows of interchangability in 9mm barrels and mags to .40 cal in the 3913NL frame that could produce a .40 cal variant of this pistol, let me know, please!

Thanks, Rob.

I was reading about the 4040PD this morning, as a matter of fact. The source I had said that the gun was non-existent, which seemed strange to me, but now that you've mentioned it as well, I'll keep looking.

Thanks again.

Any idea what a 4040PD is worth today?

Depends on your area. If you run a search here, there was a recent thread on 4040 PD prices. Seems they run similar prices to 3913NL/LS models. They are definitely real, just rare.

Thanks again, Rob.

I found the threads, and now I have a new "Grail Gun" to crave -- at least for this week anyway.:o

I WOULD pick the semi-auto that's hard to find......oh well, that's part of the fun of it, I guess.

'Preciate the replies and for schooling this newbie.
