Brinks 4046 - Serial Number Lookup?

I've wanted a 3rd Gen S&W ever since they were new.

The other day, I was in my local gun store and found a 4046 with a Brinks logo on it. It came with three 10 round magazines and Safariland holster, which I expect was issued with it.
The price was pretty good, so I snapped it up. I'm very pleased that I did; it's a gorgeous pistol.



I'd like to know a bit more about it, but it appears that it's not possible to look the serial number up online.
I know there are people on here who are able to look them up, so I'm hoping someone will be able to tell me when my pistol was made?


I'm guessing from the limited 10 round magazines that it was probably some time between 1994 and 2004, when the AWB was in effect?


The serial is EKZ82xx

No guarantee - they were frequently out of sequence but my Brinks 4046 EKZ829x was dated by SW as 5/1999. Observed 4046 Brinks EKZ821x-836x. 5906 EKZ616x also dated 1999.

Lots of Brinks 4046TSW dated 2000-2005.

Some Brinks 5946TSW prefix BDx dated 2006.

No guarantee - they were frequently out of sequence but my Brinks 4046 EKZ829x was dated by SW as 5/1999.

Oh wow, we have very close serial numbers - mine is also EKZ829x!


I think you're right about the 1999 date. Not only are our serial numbers extremely close, but also, mine has Hogue grips, and the date of manufacture molded inside the grips is 1999.
